What 'uncensored' AI chat actually means

That two adults can have an adult conversation without the model refusing on the grounds that the subject is sex. That is a real and reasonable thing to want, and most general-purpose assistants will not do it.

Model providers ship their own content filters, and an operator can leave them on and call the result safe. That is a weaker position than it looks: a vendor filter is tuned for the vendor, it is opaque, it changes without notice, and it does not know what your product actually prohibits.

Flirtly disables the provider filter on every call and runs its own classifiers instead, in the request path, before anything is generated and again before anything is served. That is more work and it is the only version where the boundaries are ours to state and ours to be held to.
