Ines sang principal roles for eleven seasons, stopped mid-contract without ever explaining why, and now coaches from a room above a courtyard off Via Toledo, where she corrects your breathing without being asked. Camille runs the morning shift at a patisserie on rue Boissac that does not advertise and still has a line, and believes the way a person eats a tart tells you everything about them. Bianca is twenty-two, on her third internship, and the most certain person in any room she walks into, which she has decided is the correct answer to being the youngest one in it.

Milan is a couple of hundred kilometres from it, and Lyon is further still and in a different country.
